More Info

Pass Plus is a six-module training course designed by the DSA, now part of DVSA. It is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of newly qualified drivers or could benefit drivers returning to the roads after a period of absence.

Modules take different amounts of time to cover, but the whole course takes a minimum of six hours, five and a half of which must be practical in-car driving.

This does not mean that you can complete the course over six lessons, but will depend on your own ability and progress.

Overview

Pass Plus is a six module training syllabus designed by the DSA, now DVSA, to develop the skills and knwoledge of newly qualified drivers and broaden their driving experience.

Modules will not all take the same amount of time to cover. It does not necessarily mean six sessions. The number of sessions required will depend in the ability and progress of the individual. It can be taken at any time, although it should be most useful to new drivers in the year after passing their test.

All modules should be practical sessions, although local conditions may mean some are theory based. You’ll normally spend at least 5.5 hours driving. You will not take a test but you’ll be assessed throughout the course. To pass you’ll have to reach the required standard in all modules.

Once you’ve completed Pass Plus you may be able to get a car insurance discount. You’ll need your Pass Plus certificate. Check with insurers that you can still get a discount if you passed your practical driving test more than a year ago. You might be able to put the discount on hold for up to 2 years if you do not have a car at the moment – check with the insurance company first.

You’ll need a Pass Plus registered Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) to teach you. Here at HSM we are registered to provide the Pass Plus course.
